Interviews

Our top three tips for interviews:

1. Make sure that you know any topics you've mentioned on your personal statement in detail. The things you mention in your personal statement are things that you are interested in so you should be able to talk about them with a passion!

2. If you're not sure how to answer a question, don't say 'I don't know'. Instead, take a moment to pause and think. Often voicing your thoughts out loud makes you think more clearly. If you have nothing to say on that particular topic, think how it relates to topics you can talk about. Contrary to what many people think, you can actually guide the interview as well, as long as you are still referring back to the question they have asked.

4. The interview is not there to catch you out, it is there to see whether you will benefit from the teaching style at your chosen university. Therefore just be yourself and don't give up if you are faced with a question you are not quite sure how to answer.
